New IBC Totes

First-use composite IBC totes, molded from virgin HDPE with a factory-clean bottle and full UN/DOT ratings. We push reuse first — most jobs do not need a new tote — but when your product demands zero prior history, a new tote is the right call, and we stock them in 275 and 330 gallon.

Straight Talk

We'd rather sell you a reused one.

It would be strange for an ecology-first company to talk you into virgin plastic you do not need. For most liquids, a reconditioned tote performs identically at a third of the price and roughly 90% less embodied energy. But new totes have a genuine place — and when you need one, you should get a good one. So we stock them, honestly.

The Decision

New vs. used: how to choose.

Choose new when…
  • Brand-new product launches with tight audit trails
  • Sensitive or reactive chemistry with no tolerance for residue
  • Regulated food, pharma, or cosmetic ingredients requiring virgin containers
  • Customer or auditor specs that mandate a first-use container
Choose reconditioned when…
  • Water, feed, dust control, and non-regulated liquids
  • Agriculture, car wash, landscaping, and general industrial use
  • Any job where a washed, tested Grade A tote meets spec
  • Budget-sensitive orders and high-volume fleets

Still deciding on capacity too? Read 275 vs 330 gallon IBC totes and compare the full lineup on the used totes page.

What You Get

Virgin HDPE, rated and ready.

A new composite IBC pairs a blow-molded bottle of virgin high-density polyethylene with a fresh galvanized steel cage on a new pallet base. Nothing has ever been inside it, so there is zero cross-contamination risk and a clean regulatory paper trail from day one.

  • Virgin HDPE bottle, factory-clean interior
  • New galvanized steel cage & pallet base
  • UN/DOT ratings available for regulated liquids
  • Translucent wall for at-a-glance level checks
Certification

UN / DOT ratings.

For regulated liquids you need a UN-marked container. New totes ship with the appropriate UN31HA1/Y marking for many liquid packing groups, giving you a documented, compliant container for transport. Confirm your product's packing group and specific gravity against the marking before you fill.

Configure It

Valve & cap options.

Spec the fittings your line already runs:

  • S60x6 buttress-thread cap (industry standard)
  • 2" ball valve or butterfly valve outlet
  • Camlock or NPT adapter on the discharge
  • Vented or non-vented lids, tamper-evident options

Need to change fittings later? Everything's stocked on the parts & accessories page.

Make It Circular

A new tote is the start of a long loop.

When your new tote finishes its first job, do not scrap it. We buy empties back and put them through reconditioning, so even a first-use purchase feeds the circular system. That's how a new tote earns its footprint.

Where First-Use Wins

Trades that genuinely need new.

These are the real cases where a virgin container earns its footprint. For everything else, reuse still wins.

Pharma & cosmetics

Regulated ingredients

GMP audit trails and validated cleanliness often require a container with no prior contents and full documentation from fill one.

Specialty chemical

Reactive chemistry

Some formulations react with trace residue or need a certified compatible surface. A first-use bottle removes the variable entirely.

Food & beverage

Brand-new launches

A new product with tight traceability may spec virgin containers until a reconditioned food-grade supply chain is qualified.

Hazmat transport

UN-rated shipping

Regulated liquids on public roads need an intact UN mark. Reconditioned totes rarely retain it, so new is the compliant path.

Export

Documented supply

Overseas buyers and customs regimes sometimes require certified first-use packaging with complete paperwork.

Contract fill

Customer mandate

When your customer’s spec simply says “new container,” that settles it — and we stock them, honestly.

A new tote is not the enemy of sustainability if it loops. See how reuse pays off on our sustainability page or model it in the loop calculator.

Questions

New tote FAQ.

When should I buy new instead of reconditioned?
Choose new when your product has no tolerance for prior residue, when a customer or auditor mandates a first-use container, or when you ship regulated liquid needing an intact UN mark. Otherwise a washed reconditioned tote meets spec for far less.
Are new IBC totes UN/DOT rated?
Yes — new composite totes ship with the appropriate UN31HA1/Y marking for many liquid packing groups. Confirm your product’s packing group and specific gravity against the marking, and review our safety guide before filling.
What are new totes made of?
A blow-molded bottle of virgin HDPE in a fresh galvanized steel cage on a new pallet base. Nothing has ever been inside, so there is zero cross-contamination risk and a clean paper trail.
How much do new totes cost?
Typically about $220 to $360 depending on size, valve and cap configuration, UN requirement, and quantity. Freight distance and load fullness move the delivered price.
Can I sell new totes back when empty?
Yes. Our selling service buys empties and puts them through reconditioning, so even a first-use purchase feeds the loop instead of the landfill.
